Lampo Leong
Qi: The Dynamic Movement of Energy
Influenced by the ancient Chinese calligraphy wild cursive, Professor Lampo Leong's brushwork is expressive, energetic, and compelling. Leong has had 58 solo and over 280 group exhibitions worldwide and has won over 40 awards internationally. His calligraphy and paintings are highly sought after and are currently included in more than 15 museum collections, such as the Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Guangdong Museum of Art in China. A 26-foot-diameter granite calligraphic medallion is also commissioned and installed at a public park in San Francisco.
Joe Johnson: Local Weather
Professor Joe Johnson has recently exhibited his photographs in solo exhibitions at Gallery Kayafas in Boston, the Beach Art Museum in Manhattan, KS, and the Flatfile Gallery in Chicago, and he is schedule to have a solo exhibition at the Redux Contemporary Art Center in South Carolina. In addition, he is a member of the Midwest Photographer's Project at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and was a runner up in the Aperture Magazine Portfolio Prize.
Reception: Thursday, August 27, 2009, 4-6 pm. Refreshments will be served. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
