farm story: a place of belonging November 1 - 5, 2004 The Bingham Gallery presents Farm Story: A Place of Belonging, a thesis exhibition of by Joleen Goff, a candidate for the Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The work in this exhibition was inspired by Goff’s experience on her grandparent’s southeast Kansas farm. Farm Story interprets the landscape and farm imagery into a visual narrative. Large dyed, laminated and stitched silk constructions depict the color and composition of the fields resulting from the rhythmic change of season’s so integral to rural Kansas life. A series of silkscreened and painted 15” canvas squares displayed on a clothesline evoke the daily details of farm life on an intimate scale through imagery derived from Goff’s photographs of the farm. This exhibition will be held from Monday, November 1 to Friday, November 5, 2004. A mid-exhibition public reception will be held in the gallery on Thursday, November 4, 2004 from 4:00-6:00 pm. |
