Master of Fine Arts Thesis Showcase:
A MAN AIN’T NOTHIN’ BUT A MAN

and
AN ABSURD BEAUTY

April 30 - May 24, 2007
reception: May 12
, 2006

Master of Fine Arts candidates, Eric Carlson and Amanda Salov, will be featured in a two-person exhibition of ceramic and mixed media sculptural work. Eric and Amanda have finely developed their work while at UMC over the last three years while persuing their graduate degrees. An interesting dialogue has arisen from the two artists working and sharing together. Eric’s exhibition entitled, A Man Ain’t Nothin’ But a Man, focuses on the embrace of historical and contemporary narratives of masculinity carried into a personal context. Amanda’s exhibition entitled, An Absurd Beauty focuses primarily on embracing, rather than denying, the transitory nature of human existence. Both artists celebrate these very human concepts that encompass their own lives. They invite you to take this opportunity to see these ideas realized and communicated in their ceramic sculptures.

The two exhibitions will run from Monday April 30th, 2007 through Thursday May 24th, 2007. There will be a reception on Saturday, May 12th, 2007, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Bingham Gallery. Refreshments will be provided and truly an art of themselves. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
