Past Exhibit Artifacts and Fantasy September 17 - September 27, 2007 The George Caleb Bingham Gallery presents Artifacts and Fantasy, a MFA Thesis exhibition by Paula Kientzel, candidate for the Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Artifacts and Fantasy engages an interesting dialogue in the areas of memory, nostalgia and irony. These fresh dramatic mixed media paintings border between the realms of reality and fantasy, at times overt and other times subtle. These three-dimensional compositions combine sentimental objects and paint, which often evoke a sense of comfort and humorous relief from stress or pain sometimes associated with memory. This exhibition will be held from Monday September 17 to Thursday September 27, 2007. An reception will be held on Thursday, September 20 in the Bingham Gallery from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
