Past Exhibit Home-made Home: Invented Objects of Nostalgic Longing April 7 - May 1, 2008
Familiar, memory-evoking objects bring about nostalgia. When these recognizable items are distorted, disassembled, reinvented, and strangely displayed, however, a viewer must reconsider the nostalgic experience. The sculptures of artist Hannah Reeves are a precarious balance of the familiar and the estranged. Her exhibit is a space for viewers to reflect upon home, memory, and the problems of nostalgia. This exhibition will be held from Monday, April 7 to Thursday, May 1, 2008. A reception will be held on Sunday, April 13 in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. A special Graduate & Professional Council Gallery Reception and Artist’s Talk will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. |
