Undoing
Valerie Wedel, MFA Candidate in Sculpture

November 5 - November 29, 2007
reception: November 8
, 2007
artist talk: November 13, 2007

Undoing, a multi-media video art exhibition, encourages viewer participation and interaction. This art installation puts the participant inside the video, making the work as much about touch as about sight. Undoing stimulates self-awareness and vulnerability in participants while at the same time caressing and cradling them.

During a visit to the Venice Biennale in the summer of 2001, Valerie found inspiration in video and new media installation art, with particular interest in viewer interaction within artworks. She has chosen to pursue this work in Missouri as a way of promoting and educating about the new media art genre. This exhibition is in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts degree at MU.

This exhibition will be held from Monday, November 5 to Thursday, November 29, 2007. A reception will be held on Thursday, November 8 in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. An Artist Talk will be held Tuesday, November 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the gallery. Events and the exhibition are free and open to the public.
