Peopled Paintings, an exhibit of work by eight painters from Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Vermont will open on Monday, January 14th, 2008. The exhibit of is a survey of the diverse approaches younger artists are using to make paintings of the human form. The painters are Steve Budington, Josh Crow, Christopher Lowrance, Melanie Lowrance, Robert McCann, Jennifer Meanley, Annie Wedler, Andrew Winship.

This art exhibit shows the work of eight artists and presents a sampling of the various strategies contemporary painters use for making images of the human figure. Works of different styles and sizes will recall traditional portraiture and narrative painting, as well as fashion design, children’s book illustration, Expressionism, underground comic books and Surrealism.

Andrew Winship, Assistant Professor of Painting & Printmaking at Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, IN, will give an Artist Talk on Friday, January 25, 2008, 5:00 pm.

The reception is Friday, January 25, 2008, 6 - 9pm, in conjunction with Artrageous Friday.

The artist talk, exhibition and reception are both free and open to the public.
