Recursions: Material Expression of Zeros and Ones is a traveling group exhibition organized by the Museum of Design in Atlanta, Georgia, and curated by Carol Le Baron. The exhibit combines the technology and science of creativity and fiber techniques for this cutting edge fiber exhibition. It features the work of eleven nationally and internationally known artists: Junco Sato Pollack, Lia Cook, Susan Brandeis, Bhakti Ziek, Cathy Treadway, in collaboration with Alison Bell, Vita Blume, Bethanne Knudson, Laura Strand, LM Wood and Pat Williams.

The exhibition will be held in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery and will run from May 9th, 2005 to July 15th. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, May 12 from 4pm - 6pm, which is free and open to the public and will include music and refreshments. Laura Strand, Associate Professor of Fibers, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, will give a gallery lecture on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 11 a.m. entitled Mapping the Territory Between Hand and Machine.

This exhibition is made possible by the Museum of Design in Atlanta, Georgia, the Fulton County Arts Council, the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, the International Surface Design Association, the Verna Wulfkammer Memorial Trust through the Columbia Weavers and Spinners’ Guild, and the University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Art.
