Undergraduate Juried Art Excellence Exhibition

2008 Undergraduate Juried Art Excellence Exhibition will showcase the creative accomplishments of undergraduate students at the University of Missouri.

This is an all media, annual juried group exhibition of undergraduate art students from a variety of Art Department programs including painting, drawing, ceramics, fibers, photography, printmaking, graphic design and sculpture at the University of Missouri. Greig Thompson, artist and curator, will jury the exhibition. Thompson will select the works for the show and award eight monetary awards for outstanding work. Professor Jerry Berneche and his wife JoAnne donated the awards.

Greig Thompson is an artist and independent curator who lives in the wooded hills north of Columbia, Missouri. Over the past two decades, Thompson has designed, curated, and coordinated exhibits for a number of art and history museums, and served as director of two university galleries. In 2006, his catalogue on ceramist Glen Lukens was published by the Museum of Art and Archaeology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Thompson has also taught a range of art and art history courses at institutions within the state and furnished curation services to public, corporate, and private art collections; he currently provides collection care and exhibition design for the State Historical Society of Missouri. Thompson's artistic output is primarily in ceramics and serigraphy.

This exhibition will be held from Saturday, March 3 to Thursday, March 13, 2008. A reception will be held on Thursday, March 6 in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Juror Greig Thompson will provide juror comments and present awards during the reception. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
